Label the purpose before grouping boxes by room
Record which items belong to the moving household and which are purchases, returns or company property. Describe each group and keep the supporting information with it. The fact that everything fits in one vehicle does not establish that it belongs under one customs procedure. A clear split helps the coordinator assess the required file without changing the real ownership or purpose.
Check the Norwegian moving-goods route for your circumstances
Norwegian Customs sets conditions for household-effects relief and requires the relevant declaration and an inventory. Representation needs arranging when another party transports the goods for the owner. Identification requirements also need checking. This article does not determine eligibility: explain your circumstances, who owns the load and who will be present before dispatch is arranged.
Keep purchases identifiable within a mixed load
Give a useful description of newly bought goods and relevant purchase documents. Explain items bought second-hand rather than assuming that used means part of a qualifying relocation. Commercial imports into Norway require declaration; the correct treatment depends on the actual movement. The proposal should identify outstanding customs work separately from carrying, unpacking and transport.
Prepare the person releasing your goods
If you cannot attend collection, state who can authorise release, what is ready and who checks the final unit count. Mark the packages consistently with the current inventory. Do not give the driver a last-minute extra item without reporting it: vehicle capacity, handling and the relevant document inputs may all need review.
Make the Norwegian delivery usable after the border stage
Provide the full receiving address, contact, opening window and unloading method. Tell me if goods are going into storage before a later home delivery. A clear customs file does not establish that a pallet can be unloaded without equipment or that furniture can be carried upstairs by the driver alone. Agree those tasks with the transport plan.
| Stage or situation | Information | Next check |
|---|---|---|
| Household belongings | Owner, inventory and moving circumstances | Assess the applicable moving-goods file |
| New or second-hand purchases | Goods description and purchase information | Assess the actual import treatment |
| Company equipment | Owner and purpose of the movement | Do not silently group it as private effects |
